DOS 171: Digital Literacy Course

Welcome to our Digital Literacy Course DOS171—a comprehensive program designed to equip you with essential skills and knowledge to navigate the digital landscape effectively. By the end of this course, you will be better prepared to tackle the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital world, both academically and professionally. The course carries one credit. 

Course Overview

The course is structured over 7 weeks, with two sections available each semester. The first section takes place during the initial seven weeks of the semester (Weeks 1-7), while the second section runs during the final seven weeks (Weeks 8-14).

All course materials will be available on Blackboard. You can go through each material at your own pace.

Assessments

Throughout the course, you will be assessed through a combination of exams and online quizzes.

• The course’s final exam, held in the computer lab, accounts for 80% of your final grade. This comprehensive exam will challenge your understanding of the course material and your practical application of digital skills. It will be offered at the end of each section (7^th and 14^th weeks). You will take the exam at the end of the section you enrolled.
• The remaining 20% of your final grade will be based on online quizzes accessible via Blackboard. These quizzes are designed to reinforce your knowledge and provide opportunities for self-assessment.
• Before you take the exam in the computer lab, you should complete online quizzes. Otherwise, it will be scored as a zero.
• You will achieve either an “S” grade for Satisfactory performance or a “U” grade for Unsatisfactory performance.
